California Democratic Party Executive Board to Make Key Decision: The AAVREP Recommends No on Proposition 46

This weekend, the California Democratic Party will make an important decision on November’s Proposition 46. As you know, this measure eliminates important provisions of the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act (MICRA).

While this measure is a bad prescription for all Californians – resulting in billions of dollars in higher health care costs – it will be especially harmful to underserved communities, local health clinics, and school based health services.

The higher cost of medical malpractice insurance resulting from passage of Prop 46, on top of the extraordinary cost of medical school, will continue to be a barrier to African Americans entering the medical profession.

Please join AAVREP along with California doctors, nurses, health care providers, and community leaders and urge the California Democratic Party to endorse No on Prop 46 at the Executive Board meeting this weekend.
