African American Voter Registration, Education, & Participation Project

Increasing African American and urban voter registration, education, and participation through outreach to targeted communities in California. We've registered over 175,000 voters and counting since 2002!

Next up: November 4th

Last night Alex Johnson came close in the election with George McKenna for the LA Unified School Board District 1 seat, but unfortunately he did not have enough votes to win. Voter turnout was very low in this special election runoff. With 96 percent of precincts reporting, about 8 percent of registered voters (or roughly 4 percent of District 1 residents) voted. McKenna’s margin of victory was less than 2,000 votes. Congratulations to Board Member-elect McKenna.

Now we turn our focus to the November general election. Are you ready to vote? If you’re not registered to vote, or have moved and changed your address, register to vote online today!
